Overcome

In honor of our annual Via Dolorosa walk this weekend...

Here is this year's theme song:

The lyrics are so powerful. But the bridge really strikes me hardest...

"We will overcome

By the Blood of the Lamb

And the Word of our
testimony

Everyone overcome"

"Everyone overcome..."

"We will overcome..."

When we are Family, when one overcomes, we all overcome.

"...so in Christ we who are many form one body, and each member belongs to all the others..."

Romans 12:5

Are we encouraging each other to overcome?

Are we using our words to help others overcome?

Are we using our online postings to help others overcome?

Just a thought...

  1. You wont believe this, but just this past weekend, I found the "story of this song" randomly while surfing youtube.

It stopped me in my tracks and made me ball my eyes out and lift my eyes up to the Lord, praising him out of my pit. Losing my cousin has been so heavy on my heart, and hearing this really set my perspective back in order! We will overcome! And I realize I'm not alone in this desperate & hurting world. We are together! And Jesus is our King! And I will overcome this grief. I will never sing this song again the same!

I'm so glad to hear this song is the anthem for your Via Dolorosa event! I know God is going to do a mighty work in hearts this weekend!! :)

    Thanks for sharing!

  2. Jenn, thank you for sharing! You know how it is to put your thoughts out into the cosmic void and just pray it helps someone in some small way. Thank you for the encouragement. And we WILL overcome. We are a Family. I hurt with you over Karen's loss. I saw how deeply it affected you. But through your sharing I was able to pray for you and encourage you (hopefully) during that time. I praise God for technology and bringing the Family closer together "all the more as we see the day approaching..." We need community and to feel a part of something bigger than ourselves. And in Christ, we are. Praise God for the Family and His Word! Much, much love to you!!! :)
